Take it Easy On the Corners!

Scott-

If they can use a 125-cc motorcycle instead of a minivan to haul 7 people; then they can certainly use a four-cylinder minivan instead of a delivery truck to haul large loads. This is such a common sight on the roads of Sierra Leone. But these two vans take the cake for having a mass tied on top greater than the size of the entire van itself. Talk about a “can do” attitude.

How they stack all that stuff so high and then tie it down securely might be the eighth wonder of the world. Impressive. By the way, this is a major highway; this is not tied up for a slow drive across town. This is long-haul trucking on fast roads with corners and speed-bumps. And of course, if there is any room for passengers, climb aboard and hang on!

This final picture was taken through our windshield between windshield wiper swipes. You can see some raindrops on our windshield.

I look at this and wonder why my life sometimes feels hard to me. I would never need to resort to such a crazy, creative, and hazardous solution to the simple problem of moving things from one location to another. How many amazing blessings we have in first world countries!!

I'm noticing the flat-bottom tires on all the cars. They are being taxed with the weight!
