Ordinations in the Far Outreaches

Where there are mission branches of the church the mission president acts as the stake president. Serving in this role, Kathy and I travel to the far outreaches of our mission, five and a half hours in one direction and three hours in another, sometimes on paved roads! Last Sunday, it was my privilege to confer the Melchedizek Priesthood on four young men and ordain them to the office of Elder.

I love thinking about my priesthood line of authority. It's awesome to think that only five people stand between Joseph Smith and me, and then Peter, James and John, and Jesus Christ. I love that my father is in my line. None of them have a father who can ordain them. We talked about being faithful holders of the priesthood, caring for their wives, and raising up good children. And then one day they might ordain their sons.

I printed up a copy of my priesthood line of authority for each of them, adding their names to mine, so they can pass it on to their sons and anyone else they ordain. You can see one of them below, with his first and middle name removed for this post. I love these new names, these young men, now connected to me.

Reading about the Priesthood line of authority from Jesus Christ to Ngaujah gave me goose bumps which I often recognize as the Holy Ghost teaching me truth. The Priesthood is so awesome!
