Easter Baptisms

We have baptismal services almost every Saturday and Sunday. Today is Easter. We had baptismal services today. Imagine celebrating the anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus Christ by coming out of the waters of baptism on Easter morning. Imagine being washed clean on the day we remember the Atonement of Jesus Christ—the day that clean became possible.
These ten friends, taught by Sisters Chakwesha and Muisyo, were reborn to a newness of life today. They entered the waters of baptism and are now on the path to eternal life, which is the greatest gift of God. For the rest of us who were already baptized, we had the opportunity to renew our baptismal covenant by taking the sacrament.
Repentance and baptism are the gate to the “strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life.” 2 Nephi 31:17. Taking the sacrament is a reminder and a renewal.
It is a strait path, not a straight path. Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines strait as “a difficult, rigorous, close or intimate, passageway.” I like every one of these words. The path to eternal life includes “beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed.” But it is uphill. There is no easy, downward path that allows us to ascend. And I still haven’t found an escalator up.
My faith is still a work in progress. But it is the most meaningful work in which I have been engaged. I am aided by my testimony of Jesus Christ and His Atonement.
Jesus Christ lives. I love Hiim. He is my Savior.
Happy Easter
